singapore: day 2 --> part two

after snacks and tea at ian's parents' house we went to kinokuniya
bookstore downtown.  i found a book about interior design that i
wanted to buy but decided amazon sounded better than shelling out
almost two hundred dollars for it.  instead i beelined towards the
stationery section and almost died out of excitement (is that possible?)
when i saw they had all these pilot hi-tec pens in new colors.  i mean
seriously.  i about died.  bought five of them and a uni fine line fade and
water proof pigment pen.  just look at how pretty they are.  do it.  look.

stopped in a store called 'cotton on' and bought three white
tops.  i don't know why i buy white tops knowing i'll almost
certainly get food on them in the first wear.  i cannot help
myself.  it's just so exciting to see what color stain it will be.

after shopping we headed over to ian's uncle's house.  the house was lovely.
the food was amazing and the chairs were wonderful to sit in after gorging
myself on noodles, curry, pork, crab meatball soup, salmon, ice cream, etc.

okay, i can't remember the name of this dish.  the internet tells me it's called yusheng
or prosperity toss. i could be totally wrong but i hope and think i'm not.  anyway, there's raw
salmon and all these shredded veggies and you put them together and then everyone
gathers around the big plate of food with chopsticks and you toss up the food and
apparently the higher you toss the more luck you get.  it was really tasty and really fun.
i found it a little difficult to do what with everyone's chopsticks in there and all those
shredded vegetables going crazy but i tried my best and loved it and ate it with gusto.

sorry, fuzzy pictures
