singapore: day 1

the man.  ian tan.  so fit huh?

went for a coffee fix at forty hands.  reminded me of portland.

i tried to balance that block on my head and
it fell and hit my nose.  it still hurts a little.

headed over to dim sum at cathay with ian's
brother alex and his cousins shu lin and she hui.
the tan clan is almost as good as the uy clan at eating.

sweet as pie ruizi.  we met up at the
orange thimble for round two coffee.

the character from pirates of the caribbean

the orange thimble.

THAT'S QUACKTASTIC

look what we found! a double rainbow!

oh my gosh.  YUM.  our original plan was some restaurant
i forget the name of but had something that included pork fat
(which is almost always a good idea) but it was closed so we
came to this place which had a bunch of food stalls to pick from.

ian's awesome cousin shu lin.  here she is ordering roast duck, chicken and pork.

OH MY GOSH YUM.

started out with some barley water, vegetables, meat and fish ball soup

the table kept accumulating more and more food

eating is amazing

after dinner we met up for stan's (ian's best friend) birthday.  we had a drink
here (forget the name) with his parents.  stan is also the man.

like a creep i took a picture of their family hoping they wouldn't
notice.  stan's in the green and his brothers are in the back.

after that we headed to a club.  i know.  i had no choice.
but my goodness look at that view.  there's the marina bay
hotel on the left with the park pool thing on top.  now here's
the kicker about the club.  it's called the butter factory.  isn't that
so weird?  why the butter factory?  i will never ever understand.

so am i buttered for life or only until 12/11?

hi merlion mascot of singapore

singapore's young and hip

after the crazy butter factory we went and ate
chicken rice with ruizi, lynn and kenny.  so good.

  2. Oh yes. The food was the best. Don't know about the clothespins but I thought they looked pretty. And no, of course I did not dance.
