amanzi waterpark knows how to make money. tika, anggie, kurt, nick, serena, annie, myself and two german girls anouk and tatyana went here on sunday. it was about a twenty five minute drive from our house. not bad. i had a pounding headache and almost didn't go but the horrible thought of not getting to play in the water all day made me change my mind. my headache didn't go away and there were only four slides but at least i didn't get a concussion like everyone else. kurt, annie and anggie all hit their heads in one way or the other going down the slides (if this was america, it would have been a major lawsuit but no one seems too concerned about things like that here) and tika scraped her arm and cheek but she looks like a super tough gang member now so that's cool.
oh so back to the point of my heading here. they charge you for everything! and it's done so inefficiently! you get a waterproof wristband thing and they charge you for weird things and the prices seem different at different parts of the park and if you don't pay enough for the tube (which we thought we had but apparently hadn't) then they say you have to pay but they can't charge you on your weird wristband thing so they want you to pay in cash and who on earth carries cash around when they are about to go down a waterside?! and you don't really seem to get all the things you paid for but they don't have a good way of tracking it all so really it's just your word against theirs and when you don't speak the same word it all becomes very confusing and then if you want to use your locker they give you a key but then if you want to open it and close it they charge you for each time you do.
i had forgotten to take off my sandals but didn't want to pay extra to reopen and close the locker so i hid them in some plants. i'm so clever. no one stole them. then again, they are broken in half and held together by a few rapidly deteriorating threads. it was a little embarrassing when i went back to get them because there were all these people sitting around watching me while i rummaged through some plants, pulled out a pair of sandals that looked like a couple of stringy beef jerky pieces and whispered, "yes!" to myself. okay that's all, i've rambled far too long. this weekend we are going to pagar alam for white water rafting. more pictures to come.
