you know how i believe everything i hear.
anyway, we went back to kamarro island again this weekend! this time it was packed with people and food and noise and smells and smoke and amazing things to take pictures of. oh and a lot of litter.
boiled peanuts everywhere. soft. a little chewy. kind of salty. fresh. a little sweet. but the best part is they get wrapped up in these newspaper cones and they look so cute all together. there's a picture of it somewhere in here.
sometimes i really think indonesians are some of the friendliest, warmest people in the world. that is true when it comes to photo taking. they are laid back. you take a picture of them, they look right in the camera, then afterwards you both laugh about it.
burn. i think they are burning paper money here for their ancestors in heaven.
it sure was beautiful.
and so hot.
the sad caged birds. this was really sad to see. the birds were lovely and little and sweet but shoved way too many in a cage. the most disturbing part was when i went to take more pictures by these cages on the ground and looked down. the grass was basically a dead bird carpet. crushed little bird bodies all over the place. it was really horrible.
sugar cane juice.
dance dragon dance!
um, chinese philip seymour hoffman. does anyone else see it?
piled paper parceled peanuts.
this girl. LOVES to dance.
screen printing t-shirts.
please dispose of your trash here.
inside the temple. offerings are made to the gods. this is supposedly the grave of the princess from the kamarro island legend.
rain. it poured for awhile and everyone took cover and stood around for about half an hour. i thought it was a perfect opportunity to walk around with all the walkways to ourselves but i sensed rosa didn't want me to get in her car soaking wet. so we stood around, ate peanuts and took pictures.
this baby. so cute. they were standing right next to me. it would have been so easy to grab her and run...
thanks rudy and rosa for taking us!
damn he's good man.
Looks like fun! Although, the amount of litter is killing me. I have an urge to pick it all up and put it in a trash can somewhere.
ReplyDeleteYou should see Beijing at 3am of Chinese New Year. Amazingly, by 7am, the streets are spotless.
