The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother

Also known as The Grotto, The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother is a lovely 62 acre botanical garden and Catholic shrine located on NE 85th and Sandy in Portland, Oregon.  Ricky and I went on a field trip today to visit it and ended the afternoon with a stop at the Nam Phuong Market to peruse their fine selection of cheap ceramics and canned meats.  We left with beautiful joss papers, cheap kitchen sponges, shrimp crackers and wasabi peas.   On the drive home we were distracted by the grand opening sign of Pupuseria Factory, a small local restaurant specializing in Honduran, Nicaraguan, Mexican and Salvadorian food.  We ordered some pork, bean and cheese pupusas.  YUM!

so teeny tiny!

These were a gift from the very lovely Sonya.  They are fun to paint and I can't wait to finish the rest and make living places for them.  They are so cute!  But also a little scary at night.
